Sorry for not been updating my blog recently as I am busy leveling my Rappelz character. Well, I have played many games recently and watched many movies but did not have much time to write or either I am too lazy. Well, here you go … a movie review since my last blog.
This musical movie is entertaining especially if you loved ABBA’s hits. There is even additional music which was composed by ABBA member Benny Andersson. It was filmed in a beautiful Greek island named Skopelos.
The movie started out with Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) singing “I have a dream” wishing she could have a father to escort her during her wedding. She posted 3 invitation cards to whom could be her possible father. She shared the news with her bridesmaids and best friends, Ali & Lisa when they arrive at the island. She told them that she found her mother’s dairy and she read through it. Inside her mother’s dairy indicates 3 wild nights with 3 men and they dot dot dot … She thought by inviting them (the 3 men), she could convincingly find out who her real father will be after spending some time together.
The 3 men rushed to the airport upon receiving the invitation cards - American businessman Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), Swedish adventurer Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgard), and British banker Harry Bright (Colin Firth). Upon reaching the harbor /dock, both Sam & Harry missed the last ferry to the island until Bill offered them a ride on his yacth. Upon reaching the island, Sophie greeted them and hides them in the goat’s house also pleading them not to show themselves to her mother Donna Sheridan (Meryl Streep).
From here on, I will not elaborate more as it will not be fun anymore. I will just give a brief synopsis on the situation and hope you will enjoy the movie.
As Sophie trying to discover more about her possible dad, Donna was going crazy with the reunion with her 3 ex-boyfriends. She was also trying to chase them out the island. Despite all the hoo-haas, then came the wedding day. It was a total havoc, as all 3 of them wanted to be her dad or at least 1/3 as her dad. Sophie then made a suggestion with her fiancee, Sky (Dominic Cooper), to call off the wedding. In the end, Sam proposed to Donna and after all a wedding took place (I’m not telling you how it happen, so you have to watched it to find out … he he).
The movie can be summed up in 3 simple words – Entertaining musical movie. Watch it and you will love it. It caters to young and old audiences as some of the songs were being cover songs for Westlife. After watching it, I’m sure the download for ABBA songs will shoot up sky high once again. Oh before I forget, Pierce Brosnan can’t sing!! At least he tried.
